Constant Omari: DR Congo’s former Fifa Council member handed one-year ban

Former CAF interim president Constant Omari is entering an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) following a one-year ban that has handed out by FIFA to the Congolese administrator for ethics violations related to CAF’s dealings with French media company Lagardere. FIFA determined that Omari’s reception of €66,000 from Lagardere created a conflict of interest that were to the detriment of CAF, and have requested that he pay back the amount received as a fine. BBC Sport Africa has the latest on Omari’s appeal and reports that he has recently resigned his position as head of the Congolese Association Football Federation (FECOFA).
