A long saga regarding the transfer of Ivorian midfielder Souleymane Coulibaly has been resolved and his current club in Tunisia, Étoile du Sahel, will have to pay a stiff fine. Coulibaly went absent without leave from his prior club, Egyptian giants Al Ahly, in 2017 and after time in Europe, returned to African football with Étoile who organized a deal with Ahly to pay a $1.4 million fine that was handed down to Coulibaly for his actions. However, Étoile did not live up to their end of the deal and after an appeal from Ahly to FIFA, Étoile’s appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport was denied and the Tunisian club will have to pay the $1.4 million fine plus a 15% late fee.
