Gabon have suffered a critical blow to their chances at the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations following news that key players Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Mario Lemina have tested positive for Covid-19. The two players were seen partying in Dubai, United Arab Emirates where the Panthers were making their final preparations for the competition before leaving for Cameroon. The episode continues a nightmare season for Gabon star Aubameyang, who had been allowed to leave club Arsenal early due to disciplinary issues that saw him stripped of his captaincy at the English club. Due to quarantine procedures, both players are guaranteed to miss Gabon’s opening AFCON match against Comoros and will likely also miss the crucial second match against Ghana as well.
