After multiple knockout stage matches that have gone to extra time, Egypt assistant coach Diaa al-Sayed requested that CAF move the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations final to Monday in order to give his team further rest. Speaking in place of ejected manager Carlos Queiroz, al-Sayed stated that since final opponents Senegal played a day earlier, the Egyptian team is disadvantaged.
