Algeria ready for rejuvenated Cameroon in WC playoff home leg

Algeria found the revenge they desired when the Fennecs went to the site of their 2021 Africa Cup of Nations humiliation, Cameroon, and took down the Indomitable Lions by a 1-0 score in the first leg of their 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying playoff matchup. However, the 2019 AFCON champions know that despite the excellent result they will face a challenge when Cameroon arrives for the second leg in Algeria on Tuesday.

Fennecs manager Djamel Belmadi emphasized that with a three-day gap between the two legs of such an important tie, his biggest priority was getting the team to recover so that they can put in another strong effort. The coach stated that his team should expect a struggle because Cameroon’s poor first leg performance means that the Indomitable Lions will be focused and determined to overcome the deficit on a massive occasion.

As far as Belmadi’s squad, left back Ramy Bensebaini is suspended after picking up a yellow card in the first leg and West Ham United playmaker Saïd Benrahma has been called in to be an option to reinforce the attack with fellow attacker Sofiane Feghouli questionable for the match. The Algerian supporters are ready to cheer passionately and will pack the Mustapha Tchaker Stadium in Blida for the match despite an increase in ticket prices.
