Algeria national team playmaker Youcef Belaïli’s adventure in France will continue after the 30-year-old extended his contract with Stade Brestois by another year this week. Since joining on a free transfer from Qatar Sports Club in January, Belaïli contributed three goals and two assists in thirteen matches as the French top flight side finished in the eleventh position on the league table. His short-term contract had expired but Belaïli’s impressive form will see him continue to feature for Brest in the upcoming 2022-23 season.
Belaïli’s role has continued to increase for the Algeria national team, scoring three goals as the Fennecs won the 2021 FIFA Arab Cup and also becoming the main attacking threat in the absence of Manchester City playmaker Riyad Mahrez as Algeria opened up their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign with wins against Uganda and Tanzania.
