The Arab Cup U-20 continued on with its group stage on Wednesday as Egypt and Algeria sealed routine victories over Somalia and Libya respectively. In the day’s opening match Algeria found two goals in the final twenty minutes to break a 1-1 tie and end Group C play undefeated while eliminating Libya from the competition. Jorès Rahou of Olympique Marseille opened the scoring with an excellent strike before finishing the scoring late on for his second goal after Amar Oussama broke the 1-1 deadlock.
Egypt were fortunate to not concede an opening goal against underdogs Somalia but a well taken goal in the 35th minute put the Egyptians ahead with Youssef Hassan finishing off a cross. The Egyptian team confirmed three points late on with a curled finish from Omar Ibrahim and Egypt will face the winner of Thursday’s match between Palestine and Morocco in the quarterfinals.
Highlights from both of Wednesday’s games are below.
Algeria 3-1 Libya
