Red Bull Salzburg saw another African talent depart for a bigger stage as Malian midfielder Mohamed Camara completed his transfer to French Ligue 1 club AS Monaco as announced by the club on Sunday. The 22-year-old Bamako native joins for a €15 million fee and a contract that is set to run until June 2027. Camara joins fellow signings Breel Embolo, Takumi Minamoto, Thomas Didillon and Malang Sarr at the Monegasque club who are looking to build upon a third place finish last season in Ligue 1 and will be competing in the UEFA Europa League.
Camara joined Red Bull Salzburg at the age of 18 from AS Real Bamako in 2018, spending time at Red Bull’s reserve team FC Liefering along with a loan spell at Austrian Bundesliga club TSV Hartberg. He broke into the Red Bull first team during the 2019-2020 season to make 79 appearances and score 4 goals over three seasons in all competitions. Camara is a regular with the Mali national team with 15 appearances and 3 goals for Les Aigles.
