25-year-old South African forward Luther Singh will look to get his career back on track with a loan move from current club FC Copenhagen to GD Chaves in Portugal’s Primeira Liga, a move that was confirmed by the club this week. The talented player has been plagued by injuries, illness and a lack of club stability having spent the majority of his career on loan spells. Singh will look to bolster Chaves’ bid to stay up in Portugal’s top division after gaining promotion through the playoffs in the second tier last season.
Singh had a nightmare 2021-22 season at Copenhagen after joining for $1.55 million, only making four league appearances in the Danish Superliga and three in the UEFA Europa Conference League where he was infamously substituted off before the final whistle after coming on at halftime. A period of illness and depression kept him off the pitch during the season as well and Singh has not represented the South Africa national team since starting and playing 73 minutes in a 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Zimbabwe.
