Amad Diallo has shown the game changing talent he possesses with the Ivory Coast national team but the 20-year-old has yet to show his skill in European football at parent club Manchester United or when on loan with Rangers FC in Scottish football last season. United have sent Diallo out on loan again, this time to EFL Championship side Sunderland to gain more playing time as the former Atalanta player continues to try and find his feet in English football. BBC Sport reports that Sunderland will pay half of Diallo’s wages for the 2022-23 season as United hopes that he can show more of his potential after spending £19 million to bring him to the club in January 2021.
Diallo spent the second half of the 2021-22 season with UEFA Europa League runners-up Rangers where he scored three goals in thirteen appearances but failed to earn regular starts or convince the supporters and manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst. The Ivorian has made only nine appearances for United since joining with one goal during the club’s 2020-21 Europa League campaign.
