ES Sétif appeared to have an important win wrapped up against defending Ligue 1 Professionnelle champions CR Belouizdad on Tuesdsay but the reigning Algerian champions found a late equalizer to draw 1-1 at the Stade du 8 Mai 1945. Abderrahmane Bourdim produced an excellent strike from distance to give CRB a point on the road and keep Le Chabab undefeated early in the season with sixteen points from six games. Sétif star midfielder Ahmed Kendouci opened the scoring early in the second half for ESS who sit in seventh position with twelve points from eight matches.
Elsewhere, ASO Chlef and USM Alger each won with 2-1 results to move into the top five positions for now. USMA scored twice in the opening 25 minutes to defeat Paradou AC and are even on points with CRB with one more match played. Ahmed Kerroum, who was on the JS Kabylie team who finished runners-up at the 2020-21 CAF Confederation Cup, scored his first goal for ASO as they came back from conceding an early goal to defeat struggling JS Saoura.
Kabylie are in the midst of a disastrous spell in league play which continued with their 0-0 home draw against USM Khenchela. The Canaries qualified for the 2022-23 CAF Champions League group stage but currently sit second from last place on the Ligue 1 table.
