Qualifying for the 2023 Africa U-23 Cup of Nations in Morocco is in full force with the First Round finishing up first leg matchups over the weekend. Madagascar, Libya, Mozambique, Mauritania and Eswatini all earned victories at home to start off their qualifying campaigns with Madagascar and Mozambique particularly in good shape against minnows Seychelles and Mauritius. Libya have a three-goal lead to defend in Rwanda after taking down the Amavubi at home in Benghazi. Guinea-Bissau, Ethiopia and Tanzania all played to 0-0 draws at home against Niger, DR Congo and South Sudan.
After a first leg victory at home in Luanda against Namibia, Angola have already confirmed their spot in the Second Round with a dominant 6-0 second leg victory against Namibia that was also played in Luanda on Saturday. Tanzania finished up their tie against South Sudan on Monday and earned a 3-3 draw at the Stade Huye in Rwanda to progress on the away goal rule.
