The Ghana domestic-based national team continued their preparations for the 2022 African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Egypt before the competition kicks off in Algeria on January 11, defeating a reserve-heavy Al Ahly side 3-1 over the weekend in a closed doors friendly match. After falling behind in the first half the Black Galaxies rallied in the second half following a series of substitutions from Ghana manager Annor Walker with Solomon Adomako leveling soon after coming on.
Razak Yusuf caused plenty of problems for the Ahly defense, drawing a penalty kick in the 76th minute for Hearts of Oak star and 2022 FIFA World Cup participant Daniel Afriyie Barnieh to convert and put Ghana in the lead. Yusuf finished from an Augustine Agyepong cross in the 80th minute to finish the scoring for Ghana, who defeated the Egypt under-20 national team last week in another preparation match.
The Black Galaxies will leave for Algeria on Tuesday before taking part in Group C at the CHAN, where they are set for matchups against Madagascar, Sudan and defending champions Morocco. Ghana faces Madagascar in their Group C opener on January 15.
