Al Ahly comfortably advanced to the final of the delayed 2021-22 Egypt Cup final on Tuesday, jumping out to an early lead and never looking back in their 3-1 victory over Smouha. Ahly forward Kahraba returned from a lengthy FIFA suspension for his first competitive match since a loan spell at Turkish club Hatayspor, registering a goal and creating Ahly’s opening goal scored by Ahmed Abdelkader. Hamdi Fathi also scored for the current Egyptian Premier League leaders who will face Pyramids FC in the final set for early February.
It was a nightmare start for Alexandria club Smouha when the defense allowed Kahraba to get open and receive a pass from Mohamed Hany on the right flank in the 8th minute. Kahraba’s cross went through the legs of Smouha goalkeeper El-Hany Soliman, allowing Abdelkader to sweep in for an easy finish. Only a couple of minutes later Kahraba was involved Ahly’s second as well by holding off a defender to take down a high ball into the box before his deflected pass found Fathi for a low shot that squeezed under Soliman.
Smouha’s first half misery and Kahraba’s joy was complete in the 36th minute when Ahly forward Hussein El Shahat ran onto a pass from Fathi. El Shahat snuck by a retreating Smouha defender and laid off to Kahraba who lifted his finish around the advancing Soliman to make it 3-0 by halftime. Hossam Hassan, recently loaned from Ahly to Smouha, converted a late penalty kick in second half stoppage time to give the visitors a consolation goal.
