Players representing African national teams produced plenty of goals and assists over the weekend in European top leagues such as Italy’s Serie A, Germany’s Bundesliga and England’s top two divisions as well as the Coupe de France. Tunisia national team midfielder Ellyes Skhiri was among the most productive with two goals and an assist in FC Köln’s 7-1 thrashing of Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga, giving him his first goals and assist in league play this season. Elsewhere in the Bundesliga special attention must be given to the return of Ivory Coast national team striker Sebastien Haller, who made his return to action with Borussia Dortmund as a substitute following a battle with cancer.

In Italy, Nigeria national team attackers now occupy the top-2 spots on the scoring table in the country’s top division after goals from Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen. Osimhen scored in yet another Napoli league victory with his thirteenth strike of the season boosting Gli Azzurri to 12-point lead at the top. Lookman scored twice and assisted the other in Atalanta’s thrilling 3-3 draw at Juventus, giving Lookman eleven goals on the season.
