Despite a 1-1 draw over the weekend at US Biskra, defending Algeria Ligue 1 Professionnelle champions CR Belouizdad remain undefeated and in excellent shape at the top of the table. Abderrahmane Bourdim’s late penalty kick prevented CRB’s first defeat and Le Grand Chabab are seven points clear at the top with three less matches played than closest competitors CS Constantine and ES Sétif.
ESS did their part to stay in the top three positions with Sunday’s 1-0 victory over USM Alger. Youth product Salah Bouchama scored his first goal in the second half for Les Aigles Noirs to move them to within two points of second placed CS Constantine with a total of 35 points. USMA are in eighth place on 29 points but still have a few games to make up on their competition due to CAF Confederation Cup duty.
Constantine played to a 0-0 draw at MC Alger to leave themselves seven points back of CRB while MCA are in fourth position, three points behind ESS. On the other end of the table, Paradou AC earned an important 1-0 victory over JS Kabylie as both teams continue to fight against relegation. JSK, authors of a successful CAF Champions League campaign that surprisingly sees them in the quarterfinals, are improving their domestic form a bit but are now three points behind Paradou in fifteenth position.
