Zamalek kept themselves inside the top five of the Egyptian Premier League after defensive leader Mahmoud Hamdi contributed on the other end by scoring the only goal in a 1-0 victory over Bank Al Ahly on Sunday. “El-Wensh”, who recently returned from a long-term knee injury, scored his first goal of the season with a powerful header in the 30th minute after a short free kick on the left wing led to Ahmed Fatouh’s excellent cross. Zamalek move into fourth position with the result where they are level with Alexandria club Al Ittihad on 36 points.
Another Alexandria club played host to the highest scoring match of the round when Smouha defeated El Dakhleya 4-3 on Sunday. Former Elmina Sharks forward Benjamin Bernard Boateng came on as a substitute and scored twice for Smouha who were also helped by goals from on loan striker Hossam Hassan and Sodiq Ougola in the victory.
