It appears to only be a matter of time before Al Ahly regain their title as champions of the Egyptian Premier League. A 2-0 victory over ENPPI on Tuesday evening moved The Red Devils four points ahead of nearest competitors Pyramids FC and the league leaders still have played four matches less than their rivals. Mohamed Sherif’s first goal in a month put Ahly into the lead shortly before the half hour mark and Ahmed Abdelkader’s long range strike doubled the advantage five minutes later. Ahly remain undefeated in league play this season with forty-two goals scored and only seven conceded in twenty-two matches.
In other action from Tuesday, Pharco FC moved into seventh place with a 1-0 home victory over Smouha. Mahmoud Hamada fired a volley past Smouha goalkeeper El-Hany Soliman in second half stoppage time to give his team three points and keep their faint hopes alive for qualification to next season’s CAF Confederation Cup. In the other match from Tuesday it was an important victory for Bank Al Ahly who moved farther away from the relegation zone with a 2-1 victory over Aswan SC.
