Pyramids FC had no issues securing a spot in the semifinals of the 2022-23 Egypt Cup with a routine 3-0 victory over Bank Al Ahly on Monday at the Cairo International Stadium. Islam Issa opened the scoring inside the first three minutes and scored another on the hour mark after Fagrie Lakay tallied the second goal.
The opening goal was too easy when Mohamed Chibi’s long throw-in was flicked on by central defender Ali Gabr to find the diminutive Issa who smashed his finish in off the crossbar. Just before halftime disaster struck for Bank Al Ahly when Pyramids forward Mostafa Fathi was played in behind the defense and pushed over in the penalty area by Moussa Diawara. Lakay put his spot kick beyond the diving Gabaski after Diawara was sent off due to a second yellow card.
Fifteen minutes into the second half, Issa struck for his third goal in two matches and seventh in all competitions this season. Chibi got forward on the right flank and had plenty of space to send a low cross in to find the run of Issa whose first attempt was blocked by Gabaski before tapping in an easy finish from the rebound.
