Former French internationals Adli and Aouar set for switch to Algeria

It looks like Algeria will be adding at least two top division European-based talents for the national team when the Fennecs take part in friendly matches against Guinea and Ghana in September. Former France under-21 national team and current AC Milan player Yacine Adli and one-time French senior national team player Houssem Aouar of Olympique Lyonnais will be in the Algeria squad according to Algerian publication La Gazette du Fennec.

Adli, who signed in August 2021 with Milan, spent last season on loan with Bordeaux as the club were relegated to France’s Ligue 2 but the 22-year-old is regarded highly for his technical ability and represented France at the 2017 FIFA U-17 World Cup. Aouar has been a regular contributor for Lyon since debuting in February 2017 and played once for France in a friendly against Ukraine in October 2020. The 24-year-previously considered playing for Algeria but elected to play for Les Blues, an option that appears unlikely with the constant influx of young talents into the French setup.
