Alex Iwobi looks to help Everton build off momentum of avoiding relegation

Multiple managers over his three seasons at Everton have seen Nigeria national team attacker Alex Iwobi forced to adapt on a frequent basis during his time at the Merseyside club since joining from Arsenal in August 2019. However the Lagos born 26-year-old was crucial to Everton avoiding relegation last season with his winning goal against Newcastle standing out as a key moment for the Toffees, whose preservation of top flight status was described by Iwobi as “like a movie”.

Now that he has found his stride under current manager Frank Lampard it looks like Iwobi will maintain his role as an important player for the side and he will strive to keep his motivation up since using Nigeria’s disappointing 2021 Africa Cup of Nations tournament to inspire him to new heights for his club. Iwobi discusses playing under Lampard, Everton’s relegation battle and taking advice from his famous uncle Jay-Jay Okocha in an interview with The National below.
