CR Belouizdad confirmed their continuing dominance of Algerian football on Tuesday by clinching a fourth consecutive Algeria Ligue 1 Professionnelle title following a 0-0 draw at second placed CS Constantine. CRB maintained an eleven point lead on CSC with the result and are now out of reach with three matches remaining. Le Grand Chabab will once again represent Algeria at the CAF Champions League next season while Constantine are close to joining CRB in Africa’s top club competition.
JS Saoura moved into third place with a 2-0 victory at bottom of the table HB Chelghoum Laïd, giving them a one-point lead over reigning CAF Confederation Cup champions USM Alger. USMA were held to a 0-0 draw by NC Magra but despite being tied on 40 points with three other teams their spot is confirmed in next season’s Confederation Cup by virtue of winning the competition this season.
On the other end of the table the relegation fight continues on with six teams in danger of joining Chelghoum as the teams relegated to Ligue 2. Paradou AC moved out of the drop zone with an important 1-0 victory against MC Alger courtesy of Merouane Zerrouki’s first half goal. PAC are even with RC Arbaâ on 32 points but hold the advantage on the head-to-head tiebreaker.
Newly crowned Algerian Cup champions ASO Chlef, who upset CR Belouizdad in the final, are only a point ahead of PAC and RCA following a 2-0 defeat at El Bayadh. Regardless of what happens ASO will join USMA as Algeria’s representatives in next season’s Confederation Cup. JS Kabylie are enjoying good form at the right time and are three points out of the relegation zone after extending their unbeaten streak to eight matches with a 1-0 victory over US Biskra.
