APR and AS Kigali march on in the race for top spot in the Rwanda Premier League

A free kick from just outside the box from Fitina Omborenga handed APR FC the lead in Thursday’s Rwanda Premier League encounter against Bugesera FC and a superior second half performance finished off a comfortable 3-0 victory. Djabel Manishimwe scored from the penalty spot and then Lague Byiringiro saw his initial effort saved before putting in an easy rebound from close range to finish off the three points for the Army club.

APR’s rivals, AS Kigali, also found victory on the day to keep up with their fellow capital-based side by winning 2-0 against Rutsiro. Nigerian forward Abubakar Lawal took advantage of a nightmare mistake from the Rutsiro goalkeeper, seizing upon a stray pass for the former Nasarawa United player to put away his third goal of the season. A late goal in the final ten minutes clinched the victory for AS Kigali.
