APR maintain unbeaten record in Monday’s Rwanda Premier League action

An early strike from John Bosco Ruboneka set the tone for top Rwandan side Armée Patriotique Rwandaise FC before Djabel Manishimwe and Yves Mugunga finished off Gorilla FC for the Army club to triumph 3-0. With the victory APR look to have top spot in Group A clinched, leading by 11 points over Gorilla in second place. In the other match from the group, Bugesera FC moved to within closing distance of Gorilla for the important second qualification spot with a 0-2 win over Muhanga.

There is much more suspense in Group B, where all four teams have a fighting chance to qualify in one of the top-2 spots. Rayon Sport were held to their third straight 1-1 stalemate by Gasogi United in a match where all the action took place in the final ten minutes. Star forward Ernest Sugira tallied from the penalty spot for his 3rd league goal in the 80th minute before being sent off four minutes later, setting the stage for Gasogi to equalize with a spot kick of their own. Rutsiro earned an important 1-2 victory over Kiyovu in the other match, and now only two points separate first placed Gasogi from Rutsiro in fourth.
