An astounding tenth DStv Premiership draw of the season at Baroka left Kaizer Chiefs supporters frustrated and very angry with the officiating on Thursday. While a 10th minute clear foul in the Baroka penalty area on Amakhosi star forward Samir Nurkovic was missed by the officiating crew, Chiefs only have themselves to blame for failing to hold onto yet another lead.
A stale first-half let to no shots on goal for either team and the action didn’t pick up until after the break. Chiefs looked to have three points coming their way when an excellent team buildup led to Lebogang Manyama’s opener in the 58th minute. However, Bakgaga were not to be denied and stepped up their efforts in attack, scrapping an 81st minute equalizer through 20-year-old starlet Evidence Makgopa.
Both teams remain stuck in the mass of five teams that make up the middle of the DStv Premiership table, with Chiefs in ninth on 25 points and Baroka in 11th on 24. A match report is below from Business Live and Chiefs manager Gavin Hunt reacts to the controversial missed penalty in an article from Kick Off. Extended highlights are further down.
