The praise and adulation for AmaZulu coach Benni McCarthy saw the coach direct compliments to his squad and staff as the Kwazulu-Natal club was awarded a prize of 1.5 million rand (a little over $100,000) for being the top team during the third quarter of the season. AmaZulu are now only a point behind Mamelodi Sundowns and have achieved a Herculean feat by emerging as a threat to the defending champions. McCarthy, by all accounts set to be announced as the new South Africa national team manager, gave special thanks to ambitious AmaZulu owner Sandile Zungu and his inclusion of McCarthy in the club’s plans to boost their status.
