West African powerhouses Ghana and Ivory Coast squared off on Saturday in an international friendly with the match ending in a 0-0 stalemate at the Cape Coast Stadium. Opportunities were very limited for both sides as only two shots on goal were recorded for the duration of the game. The Elephants of Ivory Coast looked the most threatening in the first half, Sebastien Haller’s header giving Ghanaian keeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi little trouble early on. Haller was involved in the best chance in the opening period when he toe-poked a return pass into Wilfried Singo’s path but the Torino player could not get his feet right and directed his weak shot wide.
Ghana captain Thomas Partey had the best look for the Black Stars before halftime with a stinging effort from distance, but Ivorian veteran keeper Sylvain Gbohouo dealt with the shot well enough. The Ivorians had a few chances in the second half but Ati-Zigi kept his goal well protected while Partey missed a header late on.
