Action from the Botola Pro was packed with goals on Thursday as teams vying to raise their ranking and compete with Raja and Wydad took part. Army club ASFAR, IR Tanger and RS Berkane all came out with important victories, with ASFAR and RSB moving into the top-5 thanks to obtaining three points. After a rough spell stretching back to last season, IR Tanger will be glad to have found their scoring touch and hope to move themselves away from the relegation picture.
ASFAR were eliminated from the 2021-22 CAF Confederation Cup by Algeria’s JS Kabylie, but the Royal Army club is beginning to find its form on the domestic front and obtained their second straight victory against Youssoufia Berrechid. All goals came within the opening thirty minutes as the teams traded penalty kicks before ASFAR found the winner in the 30th minute. American-born Noah Sadaoui, acquired from Raja Casablanca, provided an inswinging cross from the left wing that found Mounir El Allouchi for a well placed header.
RS Berkane have rebuilt their squad with a few Congolese signings accompanying new manager Florent Ibengé. While the team has taken a bit of time to find their form with all the new signings, RSB are starting to put it together on the pitch and did enough to secure a 1-0 win against Mouloudia Oujda. The winner came in the 76th minute when left back Hamza El Moussaoui, another new acquisition from Moghreb Tétouan, provided an excellent cross that found Hamza Regragui for a header that was too powerful for Mouloudia keeper Mehdi Maftah to keep out.
IR Tanger came out on top in a 4-2 goal fest over Difaâ El Jadida to eject DHJ from the top-5. Gabonese striker Axel Meye, among the top scorers in last season’s Botola Pro with thirteen goals, scored his first goals in nearly two months with a brace to help IRT move into 14th place on the table.
Highlights from all three of Thursday’s games are below.
