Botola Pro: ASFAR Rabat move into third place with a solid 1-0 victory over DHJ

One of Morocco’s most historically successful clubs is showing signs of being able to compete with the top clubs following ASFAR’s professional performance in a 1-0 defeat of Difaa El Jadida. Led by former Simba coach Sven Vandenbrouck, the Royal Army Club has gone undefeated in 2021 so far and the victory stretched their competitive unbeaten run to eleven games. ASFAR are now tied with Raja Casablanca on points in second place, with only goal differential keeping them in third.

The majority of opportunities fell the home team’s way and ASFAR found the necessary breakthrough in the 40th minute. Rising 19-year-old star Reda Slim scored in style directly from a corner-kick when DHJ goalkeeper Soufiane Barrouhou could only weakly push the in-swinging corner off his post and into the goal, giving the member of Morocco’s African Nations Championship side his fifth league goal of the season.

Highlights of the match are below.
