It was a dream Botola Pro debut for Togolese striker Ismaïl Ouro-Agoro on Wednesday evening in Mohammédia. The new acquisition from Ethiopian club Saint George SC came on at the hour mark for ASFAR and scored the match winner in a 2-0 victory over Chabab Mohammédia to give the defending champions a winning start to the 2023-24 league season. Mohamed Hrimat added the second goal for ASFAR from the penalty spot late on.
ASFAR were well in control of the match throughout but struggled to find the target with their shooting. Midfielder Khalid Ait Ourkhane got on the end of a cross in the 28th minute but his attempt brushed the side of the net in the best opportunity of the first half.
The pressure began to build on Chabab again after sixty minutes and ASFAR snatched the lead through Ouro-Agoro in the 70th minute. A poor clearance from Chabab goalkeeper Soufiane Barrouhou ricocheted back into the path of ASFAR attacker Abdelfettah Hadraf who approached the goal. Two Chabab defenders tackled the ball off Hadraf but it fell kindly for Ouro-Agoro whose shot snuck underneath Barrouhou.
Ouro-Agoro also played a role in the second goal for ASFAR. The top scorer of the Ethopian Premier League last season was brought down while attempting to hold the ball up in the Chabab penalty area, drawing the whistle of the referee. Hrimat sent Barrouhou the wrong way with his spot kick to clinch the victory.
