Botola Pro: Raja and ASFAR play out thrilling draw, Wydad fights back to win away from home

The second round of matches took place in Morocco’s Botola Pro over the weekend and only three clubs have a perfect record through their two matches. On Sunday, RS Berkane joined JSS and Union Touarga as the teams with two wins each with a 2-1 result over IR Tanger on Sunday. Adil Tahif equalized for RSB after an early concession before Oussama Lamlioui headed in the winning goal deep into second half stoppage time.

At the Stade Mohammed V in Casablanca, Raja CA and defending champions ASFAR Rabat were left sharing the points with a 2-2 draw. Both teams converted a penalty kick each inside the opening half hour and soon after Yousri Bouzok put Raja into the lead with his second goal of the match. However hosts Raja were reduced to ten players by halftime and former Raja player Zakaria Habti equalized for visitors ASFAR in the second half after coming off the bench.

Another exciting match took place in Sunday’s late fixture. Following a defeat to FUS Rabat, Wydad AC needed to recover with a victory and WAC defeated Chabab Mohammédia 3-2. Arsène Zola and Bouly Junior Sambou scored for the visitors who overcame their opponents with a goal from Ayoub El Amloud in the second half. Wydad will begin their 2023-24 CAF Champions League campaign in about two weeks after the international break.
