It is looking more and more like the 2021-22 Botola Pro season in Morocco may see a new team emerge on top, but in the meantime Wydad and Raja Casablanca are still at the top. However, the Casablanca-based giants both turned in underwhelming performances to drop points while RS Berkane finally showed signs that they are capable of pushing for a title.
Raja were defeated by Berkane by a 2-1 score on Sunday with RSB finally finding their goalscoring boots in the second half. Brahim El Bahraoui scored his first goal of the season in the 51st minute when Raja’s defense failed to push out quick enough following a corner kick clearance, allowing a chipped ball back into the penalty area to find El Bahraoui wide open for an easy finish. New Congolese signing Chadrack Lukombe had been the only player to score for RSB going into Sunday’s matchup, and delivered once again to put the visitors beyond reach in the 61st minute. Lukombe took in a pass well before lashing a shot past Anas Zniti for his third goal of the young season.
Promoted side Olympique Khouribga continue to show potential and their Motswana contingent came through in a 2-2 draw against third placed Difaâ El Jadidi on Saturday. Tumisang Orebonye did well to control a cross and lay off to countryman Kabelo Seakanyeng to put OCK up 2-1 before an equalizer from Chichane kept DHJ from dropping full points. In the late matchup on Sunday, league leaders and defending champions Wydad played out a bore 0-0 draw against big spenders Chabab Mohammedia.
