Botola / WAC-MAS (2-0) : Une victoire du Wydad sur fond de déchets !

Wydad Casablanca are in cruise control at this point and not even a negative defensive performance from visitors Maghreb Fez could keep the Botola Pro league leaders’ attack at bay. The Reds were successfully contained in the first half but eventually the hosts found their opener courtesy of an improved offensive performance in the second half to get three points and extend their lead over rivals Raja to four points.

There were few opportunities for either team in the first half with Wydad’s Tanzanian striker Simon Msuva missing a header and an apparent handball by Maghreb Fez in their penalty area that went ignored by the referee. Maghreb Fez nearly found a surprise opener but Malian forward Abdoulaye Diarra put a low effort into the side netting from close range.

Sustained pressure after the halftime break brought Wydad their reward five minutes into the second half. A well placed cross from the right side of the Fez penalty area found Libyan attacker Muaid Ellafi at the far post, who made no mistake firing in his volley to provide the opener and his sixth goal in league play this season. The visitors posed little to no threat to equalize and halftime substitute Mohammed Ounajem finished off the match in the 83rd minute by dispossessing a Fez defender in the penalty area before firing home to wrap up the three points.
