Nairobi City Stars put together an excellent first half performance to come out on top 3-0 over Sofapaka on Monday, moving the capital-based side into the FKF Premier League top-10. It was a worst case scenario start for the visitors when a Nairobi City corner kick led to a handball in the box, resulting in Peter Opiyo tallying a 3rd minute penalty kick to open the scoring.
By the time 16 minutes were completed, it was 2-0 to the hosts. A cross from the right wing was parried by Sofapaka keeper Aigba Moubarak right to Davis Agesa for the forward to easily volley home. Sofapaka had an opportunity to get back in the match when a penalty kick was awarded in the 30th minute, but Kenya international midfielder Lawrence Juma put his spot kick off the post and out. Nairobi City put the match out of reach with a Salim Abdallah header from a free kick before Sofapaka keeper Moubarak received a red card just before halftime.
