DStv Premiership: Trio of penalties results in Kaizer Chiefs victory, Orlando Pirates held by Richards Bay

Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana continues to gain the adoration of Kaizer Chiefs supporters since joining Amakhosi and the Burundi national team striker’s list of admirers only grew further on Sunday as he became the first player to score a hat-trick in the 2022-23 DStv Premiership season. Bimenyimana converted three times from the penalty spot to help Kaizer Chiefs to a 3-1 comeback victory at Stellenbosch FC, leaving the Soweto giants two points back of league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns after a weekend that featured four league fixtures.

Chiefs’ rivals, Orlando Pirates, continued their goal scoring struggles on Saturday and could not break down a stubborn Richards Bay side in their 0-0 draw at Orlando Stadium. Richards Bay have the best defense in the league so far this season with only three goals conceded in ten matches and maintain their second place position with the road result.

SuperSport United earned their fourth win in their last five matches on Friday with a 3-1 result at home over Sekhukhune United. Gavin Hunt’s team continue to build their confidence since stunning Mamelodi Sundowns at the beginning of September and are level with Kaizer Chiefs on seventeen points in third position.
