The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) sent a letter to CAF requesting that the 2021-22 CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup finals be played at a neutral location to ensure fairness between the two finalists in each competition. With the last two CAFCL finals taking place in Morocco and Egypt, it appears a different location will have to be chosen if the favorites in both semifinals, Egypt’s Al Ahly and Morocco’s Wydad AC, progress as expected against Algeria’s ES Sétif and Angola’s Petro de Luanda.
The CAFCL final is set to take place on May 29 while the CAFCC final is set for May 22. Last season’s CAFCC final between Raja CA of Morocco and Algeria’s JS Kabylie was played in Cotonou, Benin and it will be interesting to see where CAF stages the finals of both competitions.
