The 2023-24 Egyptian Premier League will commence towards the end of September with the schedule draw taking place in mid-August according to Premier League board member Tharwat Swilam. Swilam revealed the news Friday on Egyptian television while also stating that the date of the draw will be confirmed after consultation with the head of the country’s Competitions Committee, Amer Hussein.
There are still announcements that have not been made yet that will determine the dates of the draw as well as the beginning of the Premier League campaign. Hussein stated on Egyptian television that the starting date of the Premier League will depend on the dates of the new African Football League club competition that is set to begin on October 20.
The draw for the African Football League will take place in early September after which the beginning date for the 2023-24 Egyptian Premier League will be set. Reigning Premier League champions Al Ahly will represent Egypt in the AFL where eight teams will compete including TP Mazembe (DR Congo), Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa), Petro de Luanda (Angola), Wydad AC (Morocco), Horoya AC (Guinea), Simba SC (Tanzania) and Espérance ST (Tunisia).
