Egyptian Premier League: Wins for Al Ittihad and Mahalla, Future FC held

Three more matches took place in the Egyptian Premier League on Monday with Alexandria club Al Ittihad among the teams in action. The club led by former Simba manager Zoran Manojlović eased to a 2-0 victory over newly promoted El Daklyeh, taking their opportunities well in an even match. Former Pyramids FC midfielder Ibrahim Hassan finished off an excellent movement by nodding in an accurate cross from Ahmed Adel Messi to open the scoring in the first half and Austin Amutu wrapped up the victory in the second half, making it his second goal in two games since joining from Al Masry.

Ghazl El Mahalla defeated El Ismaily in Monday’s opening match by a 2-1 score. Ahmed El Sheikh and former Enyimba forward Gabriel Orok were the scorers for the Nile Delta club, who held off a late run from the visitors for three points. Future FC have high ambitions this season especially after spending around $1,000,000 to sign Guinean forward Hadji Barry from the USL Championship. However, Barry saw a 30th minute penalty well saved by Arab Contractors goalkeeper Mahmoud Aboul-Saoud and Future could not convert their dominance into a goal in a 0-0 home draw.
