With Egypt being drawn in the “group of death” at the upcoming Summer Olympics in Tokyo alongside Argentina, Spain and Australia, the Pharoahs will need as many of their best talents as possible. While superstar Mohamed Salah’s availability remains in the air due to a club v. country dispute with Liverpool FC, Ahram has the latest news on a couple more players who can add to the team’s chances of advancing out of the group.
Egyptian Football Association chairman Ahmed Megahed confirmed that 30-year-old center defender Ahmed Hegazy will be available to marshal the Egyptian defense as one of the squad’s overage players, stating that the EFA received a letter from Hegazy’s Saudi club Al-Ittihad Jeddah. However, Turkish club Galatasaray stated that it is unlikely that forward Mostafa Mohamed will be available due to the club’s participation in UEFA Champions League qualifying matches.
