Espérance sign Senegal international Moussa Konate on loan, in talks with Hatem Ben Arfa

Tunisian giants Espérance appear to be breaking out the checkbook in major fashion for the upcoming season after crashing out of the 2020-21 CAF Champions League with a humiliating lopsided defeat to reigning African champions Al Ahly at the semifinal stage. The Blood and Gold announced the signing of Senegalese international striker Moussa Konaté on a loan deal from French club Dijon, who were relegated from Ligue 1 at the end of the 2020-21 season. The 28-year-old made his name at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London while representing Senegal, but the last two seasons at the club level have seen Konaté be on teams relegated from Ligue 1, causing him to seek a new destination. Konaté will join Ghana youth international star Percious Boah at the club to boost the attacking ambitions of Espérance.

Reports are also heavily linking Espérance to former Newcastle United and Paris Saint-Germain playmaker Hatem Ben Arfa. The high priced 34-year-old has struggled to revive his career in recent seasons after a rough spell at PSG, but he has reportedly cut his salary demands. With several clubs being linked to Ben Arfa, it remains to be seen if the Tunis based side can pull off a signing that would be a major coup.
