Next month Nigeria will take on Mexico in an international friendly in the United States and manager Gernot Rohr is using the upcoming camp and match to examine the country’s domestic based players, calling in exclusively Nigeria Professional Football League players. The goalkeeper position will be one for Rohr to look at particularly closely, with Enyimba keeper John Noble and Ikechukwu Ezenwa of Heartland the candidates to prove themselves. Goal covers the call up of Ezenwa, who has not featured for the Super Eagles in nearly two years but has had his fair share of important matches for Nigeria.
Check out the first link from Goal for the full list of players. Owo Sports spoke to one of the potential debutants, Stephen Jude, who has excelled this season with nine goals in the NPFL season for upstart club Kwara United as the Ilorin-based club are currently in fifth place on the league table.
