Asante Kotoko got off to a promising start in their return to league action on Saturday but couldn’t hold off a resurgent Techiman Eleven Wonders side in their 1-1 road draw. Star creative force Fabio Gama got the visitors from Kumasi off to the start they desired when he latched on to a turnover just past six minutes, driving forward to launch an effort from beyond the penalty area that went beyond the reach of Eleven Wonders keeper John Moosie.
Despite the strong start, however, Kotoko failed to capitalize on the early momentum and allowed Eleven Wonders to work their way back into the match. Techiman’s reputation as a difficult place to play was on full display, the home crowd rocking into action when Eleven Wonders found their equalizer in the 40th minute. A corner-kick was insufficiently cleared before Eleven Wonders put another ball into the box that found Samuel Boakye, who calmly placed his header into the net.
Kotoko were forced to hold off the hosts but goalkeeper Razak Abalora and poor finishing from Eleven Wonders played their part in keeping the score tied. The Porcupine Warriors remain in third place while Eleven Wonders move into thirteenth. Goal has a match report in the link below and highlights are further below.
