After a 2021-22 season that saw them relegated from France’s Ligue 1, FC Metz have reached an agreement with Italian Serie A side Salernitana for the transfer of captain and Tunisia national team defender Dylan Bronn. The 27-year-old born in France was not in Metz’s squad for their opening two Ligue 2 matches, fueling speculation of an impending move that was confirmed with Bronn arriving in Italy to finalize the deal on Thursday.
Bronn arrived in Metz for a substantial transfer fee of $4.4 million from Belgian club Genk in January of 2020 and was a regular fixture in the French club’s starting lineup. Salernitana will hope Bronn can help the club stay up in Italy’s top division, something they did by the narrowest of margins last season. Bronn has made 35 appearances for Tunisia with 2 goals including one in a 5-2 defeat to Belgium at the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
