Kakamega Homeboyz have been earning all the headlines in Kenyan domestic football and are in a strong position to clinch their first ever FKF Premier League title, but the combination of a 2-1 defeat on Sunday to Bandari and the team’s history of failing at the end of the season are cause for concern. Bandari moved into sixth place with the victory after the Dockers from Mombasa took a 2-goal lead before holding off a late charge from Homeboyz.
The league leaders are now only six points ahead of reigning champions Tusker FC, who edged Kariobangi Sharks courtesy of a first half goal from Tanzanian forward Ibrahim Joshua for his seventh strike of the season. Following a rough start to the season as they balanced league duties with CAF competition, the Brewers are currently on a ten-match unbeaten run stretching back to late January and have enough talent in the squad to keep the pressure on Homeboyz.
