Only one team remains with a perfect record in Kenya’s top tier after two matchdays and it is a club few would expect to top the table early in the campaign. Newly promoted Murang’a Seals FC made it two victories from two matches on Saturday with a 1-0 result over last season’s Mozzart Bet Cup winners Kakamega Homeboyz. Titus Kapchanga fired in the game’s only goal late on in another shutout for last season’s Super Leaguer runners-up.
Gor Mahia earned three points in a scrappy manner on Saturday for their first win of the season. Kevin Juma applied the final touch after Ulinzi Stars failed to adequately deal with a Gor corner kick, giving his team a 1-0 victory. Gor joined Murang’a, Bandari, Kenya Commercial Bank and Posta Rangers as the winners from the weekend.
Gor are now level on four points with the team they edged for the title last season, Tusker FC. Tusker found a late goal from Levin Odhiambo whose cross took a fortunate deflection for the equalizer in a 1-1 draw with Kariobangi Sharks. Keith Imbali opened the scoring as Sharks snatch a point at Tusker for the second consecutive season.
