Kenyan domestic football returned for the first match in nearly two months to start off the relegation playoff in the top division FKF Premier League on Thursday between Wazito FC and Murang’a SEAL FC. Wazito, who finished third from the bottom of the table in the Premier League, won the first leg 2-1 at home against the third placed team in the second tier National Super League to give themselves a slight edge before heading to Murang’a for the second leg.
Tyson Wekesa scored both goals for Wazito, converting a penalty kick in the first half before doubling the lead in 76th minute. Murang’a hit back late on to get an away goal but will be disappointed after they had a penalty kick saved by the Wazito goalkeeper. The teams will meet again on Sunday to settle who will compete in Kenya’s top division next season.
