One of the major issues in African domestic leagues is the travel involved for matches and the difficulties that can arise when clubs do not have their own buses or forms of transport. Veteran forward Nyasha Mushekwi, currently at Zhejiang Professional FC in the Chinese Super League, discusses the story of his career and how he got started in professional football with Zimbabwean club CAPS United before looking to donate a bus to the team after finding success.
However, the former Mamelodi Sundowns star who also succeeded in European and Chinese club football encountered difficulties which he describes in detail that led to him paying plenty more than he anticipated to import the bus from China to Zimbabwe. Read more from Mushekwi himself in a column he wrote for the website of the players’ union FIFPRO describing how he became a professional footballer and the troubles he encountered in donating the bus to CAPS United.
