Forward Bryan Mbeumo commits international future to Cameroon

The Cameroon national team received a boost to the Indomitable Lions squad after Brentford FC forward Bryan Mbeumo confirmed his choice to represent Cameroon going forward, making him eligible to compete for Cameroon at the upcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup. The 22-year-old French born player previously made ten appearances for France at the U-17, U-20 and U-21 level but now Mbeumo could potentially be an asset to the Cameroonian attack in Qatar after establishing himself in the English Premier League with Brentford. Mbeumo provided 8 goals and 7 assists in 38 appearances for Brentford across all competitions in the 2021-22 season.

The Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT) hailed Mbeumo’s decision as the end product of a long recruitment process: “This decision, which is the culmination of conversations nourished with the president of FECAFOOT [Samuel Eto’o], is driven by the rediscovered credibility of FECAFOOT and the professionalism of the management of national team selections in Cameroon.”
