Only a few days after being awarded as the Goal King of the Ghana Premier League, Ashanti Gold SC striker Yaw Annor is moving abroad to Egyptian football with Premier League club El Ismaily. Annor accumulated 22 goals during the 2021-22 Ghana Premier League season, surpassing Asante Kotoko forward Franck Mbella to become top scorer as AshGold finished in seventh place.
After AshGold came under serious accusations of match fixing for a suspicious match at the end of the 2020-21 season, it seemed like only a matter of time before Annor would move as sanctions came down on the club. Annor previously spent two seasons abroad in Spain earlier in his career, playing in the third tier Segunda Division B with Fuenlabrada and Burgos before returning to Ghanaian football for the 2019-20 season with first club Bechem United. His 22 goals last season tied Annor with Ishmael Addo, who set the record for goals in a Ghana Premier League season while with Hearts of Oak.
