Goals and assists from African players in Europe: August 11-13

Brentford’s African connection picked right up from where they left off as Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa provided a goal each in a 2-2 draw against Tottenham as the Bees kicked off their 2023-24 English Premier League campaign over the weekend. Cameroon national team striker Mbeumo scored from the penalty spot and DR Congo’s Wissa added another in a thrilling first half that saw all four goals of the match scored. The two attackers combined for 16 goals and 11 assists last season and will be key if Brentford want to continue their success after narrowly missing out on European club competition with a ninth place finish.

In our first roundup of goals and assists by African players in European club football we went all over the continent this week. Watch the goals and assists from nine different European competitions below.
